Our Story
At logonliteracy, we create practical, proven resources that help students strengthen their literacy across all subject areas. Whether you're a teacher, parent or student, our mission is simple: to provide the tools and strategies needed to teach and learn literacy with clarity and confidence.
Founded in 2005, logonliteracy began in response to a growing need. Teachers were being asked to teach literacy—often without the training or support to do it effectively.
Most professional development at the time was geared towards English or primary teachers. But literacy doesn’t belong to one subject. It’s embedded in every classroom, and every teacher plays a vital role.
That’s where we come in.
Led by nationally respected teacher and literacy consultant Patricia Hipwell, logonliteracy has helped thousands of educators across Australia and beyond embed meaningful literacy practices into their teaching. Pat, a former classroom teacher with over 40 years of experience, has developed hundreds of trusted resources and continues to lead all professional development today.
Based in Brisbane, Queensland, logonliteracy is proudly independent and unaffiliated with any educational sector. We are free to focus on what works: supporting educators of Years 4–12 with targeted professional learning and resources that meet curriculum demands and real classroom needs.
Our professional development and resources focus on the how of literacy teaching, from reading and writing to oral language, cognitive verbs, vocabulary, and more. We don’t offer one-size-fits-all solutions; we equip teachers with tools that work in their unique contexts.
When you purchase from logonliteracy, you’re choosing quality educational resources grounded in deep expertise and classroom experience. You’re joining a community of dedicated teachers and parents committed to helping all students access learning through stronger literacy.
Because every student deserves a teacher who knows how to teach literacy—and every teacher deserves to be supported in that role.

Patricia Hipwell is an experienced educator and independent literacy consultant with a career spanning teaching and consultancy roles across several countries. Her work is grounded in deep, real-world knowledge, which she draws on to design literacy strategies and resources that truly support student learning.
Based in Queensland, Patricia works predominantly with Australian schools, delivering professional development that helps teachers across all subject areas embed literacy into their practice. She has a particular passion for supporting secondary teachers—especially subject specialists—who often face the challenge of balancing content knowledge with the demands of literacy instruction.
A long-standing area of focus in Patricia’s work is assessment. Her approach helps teachers design assessments that are accessible and clear—not just for teachers, but for students and their families. She believes students often struggle not with ability, but with understanding what is actually required of them.
Patricia’s Approach to Literacy:
-
Literacy is embedded in everything we do
-
It is developed over a lifetime, across varied situations
-
Teaching literacy is a shared responsibility—every teacher plays a role
-
Teachers need practical, theory-informed strategies that work in real classrooms
-
The how-to of literacy teaching should be clear and accessible
-
Strategies must align with specific literacy skills and purposes
-
Parents value clear, practical ways to support their children’s literacy at home
-
Making literacy demands visible supports student success
-
Each subject area has its own unique literacy demands that must be taught explicitly
